We're Back!!!

After a long absence I've decided to resurrect the blog, except that it's now THE TRAVEL BLOG where I hope to post the various trips that happen over the year/s. The first, and most important is the one I undertook was with the sweet Encarna this Christmas ('08). I had promised her a trip to Ireland and she held me to my word. so I picked her up from Dublin Airport on the night of the 26th. of December. It was a strange meeting. She's a very good friend of mine but no-one could have prepared her for coming into a household in mourning. Our brother, my mother's son, had passed away just before Christmas so we were in a bit of 'strange' - a surreal time when the earth is piled up on someones grave who should not be there - but there you go. The visit of the mad Gaditana, while not diverting our grief, certainly occupied my attentions and I would like to think those of my mother and sis, Dee at least for a while. Encarna's grasp of English is tenuous to say the least and her resistance to the Irish climate was frail, as I was to find out. But it's all good and it is a unique experience as it is probably the only time Encarna will visit Ireland and the only time I will be in such company.
